For decades, musicians moved the number of loudspeakers to 11 in order to drive away the audience.

From old school heavy metal players to sophisticated electronic artists, bands of all genres tore eardrums, damaged buildings, and even triggered earthquakes in acoustic explosions.

In this article, we gave an overview of the 10 most vocal bands in history, described the impact of their audio attacks on the audience and the stage, and introduced in detail how they gained the reputation of loud fighters.

The initial goal of Lemmy Killister and his team was to become the loudest, dirtiest, fastest and harshest band in the world. Many people will say they succeeded.

Their live performances will reach 130 decibels, and theaters around the world will be affected.

In 1984, the plaster on the ceiling of Cleveland Valley Theatre cracked and fell on the audience below, smashing the roof of New Castle City Hall in Britain, and the windows of Wolverhampton Polytechnic, lighting the speakers of Port Vale FC.

So it is not surprising that they named their live album “Louder than Others”.

Left field

In June 1996, when the electronic band performed at Brixton University, it proved that they can compete with any heavy metal band and produce pure destructive noise.

Their concert was measured at 137 decibels, and the huge rhythm tore the whole building to pieces. After covering the audience with stucco and dust scratched on the walls and ceiling, the band was not invited to the show for the next four years. Only then did they turn down the volume.

My bloody lover

This distinctive rock band completely changed the sound of the guitar in the 1991 album Loveless, making the song into feedback and distortion. During live performance, the combined force of all levels of sound becomes terrible and infamous.

When touring to promote this album, the band once began to test the audience’s ability to withstand extreme volume. A reporter described that this seemed to make these programs not entertainment, but torture.

Fans attending concerts usually wear earplugs before entering the concert. The band stopped broadcasting for more than 20 years, completely dissolved or failed to record the follow-up of the “world without love”, but left traces due to chronic tinnitus at the initial stage.

Singer and guitarist Kevin Shields said, “I think you are friends.”

Who’s Who

On May 31, 1976, 75000 people crowded into the football field of London Charlton Athletic Team to watch the lineup of the announcers of the World Celebrity. That night, their behavior was measured at 126 decibels, 100 feet from the speakers.

But as one of the most vocal bands in history, the members paid a price. In 2018, Roger Daltrey told reporters, “I suggest all rock fans go to the concert with earplugs.” If we knew it when we were young… we were reading our lips.

Blue Cheer

BlueChire, an American dreamy rock singer, is regarded as a pioneer with extremely loud voice and the first band to be selected as the world’s most vocal band by Guinness World Records.

In the late 1960s, their volume levels far exceeded people’s habits. Fans of concerts usually have to give up the front row because they can’t stand the noise.

The blue cheers were so loud that they had to record in the field. Part of their second album was recorded at a pier in San Francisco.

Full body band

These power metal troublemakers often create songs influenced by swords, martial arts, fantasies and fairy tales, and are known for their epic crushing sound. So Manova seems to be looking for the sound level that other bands cannot reach.

In 1984, the organization was named after the Guinness Book of World Records for its most famous performance ever. Since then, they have broken their own records twice.

Their current personal maximum decibel was obtained from the voice check at the Magic Circle celebration in 2008, when it reached 139 decibels.

deep purple

In another Guinness Book of World Records, Deep Purple, the loudest band in the world, is one of the initiators of the highest noise punishment for fanatical audiences.

A whole generation of people grew up in the environment where the “Dark Purple” band slapped their eardrums and stood firm in rock folklore. Some fans were finally hit more seriously than they thought. Because the three audiences who performed at the Rainbow Theatre in London in 1972 were overwhelmed by the sound wave impact they received.

kiss

Gene Simmons’ latex costume performance reached its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s, and its loudest moment appeared in December 2009, which may be surprising.

In the performance in Ottawa, Canada, the band reached an amazing 136 decibels. Obviously, the concert was too noisy, and the noise complaints from city residents led the band to lower its volume during the performance.

Flamethrower

In the performance held in Auckland, New Zealand on December 13, 2011, Dave Grow and his team shocked the earth. During the three hours of filming, the band launched ground movements, such as the volcanic tremor a mile away.

Obviously, this was not enough, but the next year, a concert was held for 32000 fans in Belfast, and 140 noise alarms were heard 12 miles away.

Led Zeppelin

For a long time, these rock gods have been regarded as one of the best, loudest and most influential bands ever. Led Zeppelin, one of the founders of the heavy metal band, wobbled and crunched harder than almost all previous bands.

Many music journalists believe that the band’s performance in the 1970s was the noisiest in that decade. However, when the ASHA measured the astonishing 130 decibels of Heartbreaker, their acoustic heritage was officially recognized.
