Born To Improve Decibels: The Largest Band Ever

“If we move next door to you, the grass will wither.” Lemmy, Mothead.

Such citations were once contested by various groups for the list of the loudest bands in the Guinness World Records, but were deleted due to health reasons.

But there is no doubt that Mothead has completed their mission of creating “loud, fast, hoarse and strange speed rock music”, and has produced an album “everything is louder than others”.

In the live performance at Cleveland Variety Theatre(1984), the band’s volume reached 130 decibels, which was amazing and broke the ceiling of the venue in the process.

This concert broke the record of the loudest concert set by The Who in 1976, and was called “the loudest band on earth” by Spin music reporter Scott Cohen.

“Variety” is not the only Mot Head concert hall destroyed by the world shaking music volume. In 1982, Mothead held an iron fist tour in Batakland, France.

The music was too loud, and the mural was torn. Some people covered their ears because of the sound, so they suggested that concert audiences wear earplugs. For a long time after the concert, Levatakran refused to host heavy metal bands and rock bands.

Speed requirements

Mot è rhead is not only one of the loudest bands, but also their songs have a fast rhythm, which has an important musical impact on metal music around the world.

Remy, who died of prostate cancer and heart failure in 2015, had an influence all over the pond. Ozzy Osbourne, a black Sabbath singer, called lead singer Remy his “personal rock god”.

In their music life, both of them have established a close relationship both professionally and socially. Osborne recalled that he asked Remy for advice on his music.

Oz is not the only musician influenced by Motred’s unique heavy metal style. Throughout the 1980s, many heavy metal and rock bands were affected by this band. Metal cars, including kissing. And Jewish priests

Motred’s music style is different from any metal in the past. Lead singer Remy even said he hated heavy metal bands. Although he hated the percussion style of the band, he hated that the band was called a heavy metal band.

On the contrary, they seamlessly integrate metal elements with British punk scenes, creating a metal heavy, dramatic music brand and a primitive and radical punk attitude.

But their music also has elements of other genres. Remy said Mothead “… the blues band, really, played at 1000 miles an hour.”

Rock lifestyle

Anyone can expect a close friendship with Ozzy Osbourne. Lemmy, the lead singer of Mot è rhead, likes to live hard in his own way. He is known as a drug addict, an alcoholic and a notorious lecher. Susan Bennett, who has never been married and lost her lifelong love due to excessive heroin use, is only 19 years old.

Remy also has high stories in his plays. When a doctor told him that his blood was contaminated with drugs to the extent that it could not be treated, he slept with the wives and girlfriends of all the members of the Hockevin band to avenge his dismissal from the band.

But in the final analysis, he is an original musician and a smart free thinker, and is the founder of thrash metal as we know it today.

The end of the road

In many ways, the end of Remy’s life was like his heyday. He changed whisky into vodka and orange juice, and reduced smoking from half a bag a day to one bag a week. But faced with type 2 diabetes and heart failure, he was addicted to alcohol and drugs until the last moment.

A few weeks before his death, the rock legend began to slow down. Former Mot è rhead drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor died. He struggled with depression and fatigue due to his persistent health problems, which had a special impact on him. Lamy died of prostate cancer, heart failure and diabetes just two weeks after delivery at the age of 70.

After his death, many artists, including the New York Times, paid tribute to this inspiring rock and metal legend. Many artists also left touching video messages, including kissing members and close relatives Gene Simmons, Iggy Pop and Billy Gibbons.

Motred achieved the goal they set: playing loudly, living fast, and creating hell. Remembering Remy’s funeral, Osborne smiled and recalled the drinks he could use. “This is Remy!”

Mothead: The Rise of the World’s Most Loud Band, a picture novel about Mothead’s heritage, will be released on September 9, 2021.
